Love: what does love mean?

If you were asked the question what does love look like? How would you respond?

The world has its own view. Love may be a feeling of euphoria - that butterfly feeling. Each generation, both genders, every culture likely has their own view of love.

Are you aware that the definition of love existed before the world was created? Mind blowing, right? Love exists in God! Love was sent to earth in the flesh in Jesus Christ. Jesus love is unconditional love or agape love.

Having said that, my focus in this devotion is another type of love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 states, "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things"

In these verses, the Apostle Paul explained what love is to the church at Corinth. The words are framed in a manner to illustrate the Greek word phileo love or brotherly love. Phileo is an action word which directs believers to have a close bond with one another in brotherly and sisterly love

and to care and offer compassion to each other.

This is a command of charitable love toward one another. We do not read words such as disappointed, displeased, nor dissatisfied in these passages.

Furthermore, God loves you patiently, kindly, tenderly, and with an everlasting love. He does not see your wrong doing, but your righteousness in Him. His love believes the best of you and desires to give His best to you, for His Glory! Likewise, PressForward with charitable love toward one another. ♡
