Where to Find Courage and Strength
Because the Bible is the inerrant [free from error], inspired Word of God, Christians can claim every promise in the Bible. Two of God’s inspirational promises are courage and strength. God infuses courage and strength into His people during difficult seasons. For example, the author of Joshua tells readers in vs.1:3 that God gave preemptive favor to the Israelite leader every place where Joshua stepped. Why is God compelled to give such assurance to Joshua? Was the leader afraid? I’d say so. Four times in chapter 1 (vs. 6,7,9, &18) God instructs Joshua to stay strong and courageous. You see Joshua’s mentor [Moses] has passed away and now God instructs Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land. Do you get that? The Land is Promised! Yet, Joshua was uncertain, possibly very anxious, and maybe even doubtful when it came to being favored by God. What does favor look like? Well in each step, at every uncertain corner, over harsh terrain, and in the dark of night God promises provision. Joshua had to trust the sovereign, favored hand of God. We, too, through fear, doubt, and anxiety can trust God’s sovereign, favored hand. Therefore, step out [PressForward] beyond your borders with courage and strength to the place His whisper is calling. The faithfulness of God will grasp your hand and never let go. ♡
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua1:5).
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go” (Joshua1:7).
