God Knows The Best Direction To Take You

In my years as an over the road truck driver, I came across numerous detours. The detours were due to numerous reasons, including road closures, construction, and icy roads.

However, the detour didn't seem much better because the route slower due to traffic flow, the lanes were more narrow and winding, and some were snow packed. Nonetheless, the routes were deemed as safer passages.

Often times the safest path with God also feels like the most uncomfortable passage. The Israelites thought so as well when they were being led out of Egypt, after being released from Egyptian slavery.

There were two routes which led out of bondage from Egypt to Canaan – The Promised Land. They could travel up the Mediterranean seacoast whereby they faced Egyptian outposts. Along the seacoast, the Hebrews would be confronted by trained Philistine armies and terrain would be harsh to walk. The Mediterranean seacoast was certainly the shortest route to their Promised Land. This route would take less than two weeks. It was only an eleven day trip (Deuteronomy 1:2).

However, the Lord chose a different course for them by the way of Mount Sinai. This route was a safer passage for His people. God would create a nation, build an army, and write a set of instructions on tablets - the commandments. All, for the benefit of His people.

Their journey would be intense and challenging.

Does your journey seem challenging and intense? Do you wonder if your difficult season will end? Similar to the Israelites, God is building you up, calling you His, loving and providing for you, and preparing you to take the land that He has promised you (Jeremiah 29:11).

So, when it seems like the shortest route is cutoff to your destination, and you are frustrated, trust that God's direction is safest and best for what He is building in you and through you. PressForward! ♡
